APPLICATION
AISI 301

An austentic stainless steel, because of it's abilty to attain high strength and ductility through moderateor severe cold working, can be used for automobile trims, conveyor belts, transportationcars such as railways coaches, metal fixturesfor contruction puposes, roof drainage products, strong door frames, tableware etc.

AISI 304

It is the most widely used austentic stainless steel. It exhibits excellent corrosion resistanceand forming characterstics. It is used in petrochemical and fertillizer industries, dairy product processing equipments, food processing, pharmaceuticals industries, hospitals, kitchenware, sinks, cutlery, cryogenic vessels, as heat exchangers in air conditioning, refrigeration, textile machinery, distilleries among others.

AISI 304L

An austentic stainless steel similar to AISI 304 but with less carbon (0.03%). It is used in the place of AISI 304 for improved resistance to inter-granular corrosion and in applicationc where structures cannot be heat treated for stress relieving after welding.

AISI 309 / AISI 309S

These are austentic stainless steels which are strong and tough. Because of their higher nickel and chromium content, they are used for applications requiring high scaling and corrosion resistance. They find their use for air heater, annealing boxes, boiler baffle plates, carburiozing boxes, cemical processing equipment, dryers, exhaust manifolds, furnace parts, gas turbine parts and refinery equipments.

AISI 310 / AISI 310S

These austentic types with higher chromium and nickel content when compared to AISI 309. Because of their relatively high crap strength and mechanical properties exhibited at high temperatures these steel find their applications in higher temperature and sever service conditions. Used for their air heaters, annealing boxes, ovens, carburizing boxes, fire box sheets, furnace lining, furnace stacks and dampers, gas turbine parts, heat exchangers, kiln lining, nozzle diaphagm assemblies for tubo jet engines, oil burner parts, oil refinery equipments, recuperators etc.

AISI 316

Yet another popular austenic stainl;ess steel with 2 to 3% molybdenum. Molybdenum improves corrision resistance and imparts hotr strenths characterstics. It is used in applications requiring resistance to pitting corrision and in halogen atmospheres. Typical applicationsinclude architectural Trims, marines exteriors, chemical processing equipments, photography equipments, pulp and paper processing equipments, tannery equipments etc.

AISI 316 L

A cariation of AISI 316, contains a maximum of 0.03 % carbonm, with reduced tendecy towards carbide precipitation without addition of a stabilizing element. It is recommended for parts which cannot be heat treated, post welding.

AISI 317/317 L

These are the modifications of AISI 316/317L. With incfreased chromium, nickel and molybdenum content. They offer greater corrision resistance. The steels were developed to resist attack of sulphuric acid compounds. They resist fitting in phosphric and acetic acids. Application include paper pulp hanling equipments, process equipments for producing photographic chemical and bleaching solution, handling sulphurous, acetic, formic, citric and taratric acids. They have the corrision resistance to body acids and blood and are recommended aor surgical bone applications.

AISI 321

An austentic stainless steel, it is similar to AISI 304but stabilized with titanium to avoid inter-granular corrosion. It resists scaling and vibration fatigue. It is used for aircraft exhaust stacks, pressure vessels, large mufflers for stationary diesel engines, carburettors, expansion bellows, stack liners, fire walls etc.

AISI 347

An austentic stainless steel similar to AISI 321 but stabilized by columbium which does not appreciably reduce the overall corrosion resistance. It is recommended in the range of 240*C to 900*C for parts fabricated by welding and which cannot be subsequently annealed. Applications include airplane exhaust stacks, welded tanks for chemicals, heat resistors, jet engine parts, expansion bellows etc.

AISI 409/409S

It is alloyed straight Ferretic stainless steel. It replaces carbon steels and low alloy steel where some amount of heat and corrosion resistance and higher resistance is required. It is used for Fins in heater tubes, Transformer and capacitor cases, dry fertilizer spreaders, automotive exhaust systems including mufflers, resonators, silencer pipes and emission control units, high pressure agricultural spray tanks, culverts, shipping containers, farm equipments etc.

Type 409M is modification of AISI 409 and is used in ore cars, chutes, launders, conveyor equipments
and systems, tanks, walkways, cable racks and general handling equipments.

AISI 410/410S

AISI 410/410S is the most commonly used 12% chromium martensitic stainless steel. Excellent combination of toughness and strength can be developed through proper heat treatment. This steel has better corrosion resistance in the hardened condition. It is good choice when good formability and high strength are required and use demands resistance to mildly corrosive enviorment. It is used for furnace parts and burnace operating below 650*C , micrometer parts, tray supports, caps and vaporizing in petroleum fractionating tower, lining for reaction chambers, coal screens, fishing tackels, Keys, lamp brackets, rules and tapes, wallscreens, steam turbine buckets, blades, bucket covers, pump parts and press plates. AISI 410S is a l;ow carbon variant of AISI 410.

AISI 420

This martentensticsteel contains 0.15% and 12% Cr. It can be thermally hardened to develop very high strength. Chiefly used for cutlery, vegetable choppers,, scissors, shears, tweezers, hand tool, dental and surgical instruments.

AISI 430

It contains 17% Cr and is inferior to AISI 304 as regards deep drawability. It it is used under less severe corrosive atmospheres for chemical processing equipments, furnace parts, heat exchangers, oil burner parts, petroleum rolling parts, protection tubes, recuperators, rubber plant machinery, storage vessels, tubing, television cones, air conditioners, washing machines parts and decorative trims.
