What is SS 316 Ti Plate?
SS 316Ti is a titanium-stabilized version of the classic 316 Molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel. While standard 316 is excellent for corrosion resistance, it can struggle when exposed to temperatures between 425°C and 815°C. At these levels, “sensitization” occurs, leading to intergranular corrosion.
By adding approximately 0.5% Titanium, Alloy 316Ti locks the carbon in place. This prevents chromium carbide precipitation and ensures the plate remains structurally sound, even during extended exposure to high heat.
